Engine and Bottom End / esr cylinder idfentification?
« on: April 23, 2015, 08:55:29 AM »
I talked to Eddie and he said I'll have to pull the cyl to see if cases are bored or not. Maybe this weekend.if they are I'll throw a 350pv top end on it.

Engine and Bottom End / esr cylinder idfentification?
« on: April 22, 2015, 04:48:40 PM »
I bought a used engine with esr cylinder. threw it in and runs great.. just curious if there is a way to tell if it is a drop in esr cylinder or if it is a bored case cylinder without pulling it? not really a big deal, just curious. Im running it for playing around but Ive got a 350 cyl I could throw in it if it was bored cases..

Looking for a nice set of rear 9" douglas ultimate billet wheels. Actually would be interested in a set of beadlocks, and a set of non beadlocks. PM with pics and price.
thanks

Engine and Bottom End / Is this Cylinder salvageable ?
« on: January 08, 2015, 10:57:02 PM »
Once you get all the aluminum off the sleeve from the piston meltdown it probably won't look so bad. I would clean it up, then lightly hone and see how much damage there is, and measure bore.  that will tell you how much / if it needs bored. From tiny pics on phone it looks like aluminum built up on sleeve more than gouges?

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / UPP intake does not fit

sometimes  the OD of the carb is been machined to fit the factory boot. I would guess that this is what has been done to the carb you have.

nm.. I see it says xc ported now, not sure how I missed that...

what style porting is the cylinder, and what stroke is it for? I  am assuming stock since  you said the cases were longrod no spacer?

That is Really Cool!!

Lounge / tired of pandora/ same old music?
« on: December 15, 2014, 05:27:03 PM »
really cool site. thanks for sharing. That music isn't so much my thing, but someone has put alot of work into that, and I will give it a chance!
If anyone is tired of their pandora, I got some channels I will share that aren't likely what you normally listen too!

Sweet!!  great news!
Thanks guys!

Yes if he has a stroker cylinder that doesn't require tall deck case or spacer plate, the casting and the sleeve would both have to be specific to the setup to get the stroke length and port timing correct.
I wouldn't doubt he has done that, Eddie is a great guy for the R... I was more excited and trying to make sure I understood what you are telling us correctly than doubting or arguing you!
thanks again for the info..  I will check with ESR on this for the next engine build I do for sure!  (Now Im starting to wonder if we can talk him into modifying the case casting to allow for a bigger stroke, combine tall deck case with taller cylinder and create monsters...  lol :)

Thats new to me! (and cool info!)
You have been able to get his cases for the stroke you want.. He casts tall and machines the cyl boss (for lack of better term) down to the correct height for your setup to eliminate the spacer.
for instance I have a set of his cases for a pro-x 5mm stroker cylinder that will not require a spacer. Are you sure he is casting different length cylinders? pretty cool if he is!!  Thanks for the info
