Lounge / Glory Days

Cool video.  Nothing but 2 strokes.  I don't have any good stories about how I got into 250r's.  Before craigslist and forums, I had never seen one for sale.  They were like a mythical creature that I knew I would like but didn't think I could have.  Finally got an 86 a couple hours from home some time in the mid 2000s.  I don't plan on being without one anytime soon.

That's one fancy work bench.  The cylinder looks great, and I really like the new style heads.

Nice deer fellas.  I haven't even put on the camp yet this year.  We're mostly shotgun around here too.  We can use rifles in a few select areas though.  I've got a Remington 700 300 weather by mag.  It's like a small cannon on the shoulder.

Tbone I got it because I liked the one you posted.  Tony, I don't know what they offer.  I asked if they had red, but didn't think to ask if they had any other than black or red.

Engine and Bottom End / chain met the case

Had the chain come off last Sunday afternoon.  It either came off in the air or as soon as I landed a double.  Drug the back tires fifteen feet or so before I got myself together and pulled the clutch.  It did break the case saver mount, but didn't do any other damage.  It's a shame; they were perfect cases.  Got a red UPP and matches my powdercoat pretty well.

Looks good.  Mine is angle iron instead of box.  You could add some pieces to the bottom where it sits in the stake pockets.

You canfind the 300ex stuff pretty cheap.  I sold a guy the arms, spindles, hubs, rotors, calipers, brake lines,  and shocks for 100 bucks to put on his kids 90.  It seemed to be a really good upgrade.

Lounge / I'm cheap.... but is this being a little too cheap??
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:24:26 PM »
I would think it would work fine. If you're doing just for the price, degreasers like purple power and oil eater in the gallon containers are cheaper per ounce.  I keep a gallon sized garden sprayer of 50/50 water/ purple power on hand and clean everything from the truck tires to the entire quad including the filter.

Looks like fun.  That's some pretty country.  I miss that kind of long range high speed riding.  My hunt club hunts over 11000 acres, and due to a few troublemakers we can't ride any of it anymore.

Actually those were his words (silly flat brim hat), but honestly I don't care much for them either.  I don't know if it's a generational thing or an area thing, but I don't really see them except on tv or if I'm out of town.

That one is definitely scripted, but the story is believable.   I know a guy who threw one of his boys games in the burn barrel.   Same guy's son came home with one of those silly looking flat brim hats and his dad made him throw that in the burn barrel well.

Lounge / any truck tire experts ?
« on: August 25, 2014, 10:25:32 AM »
The simple math is to divide the total weight of the truck and load by four.  Divide the weight rating by the psi (3xxxlbs/80psi).  Divide the first number by the second to get the minimum psi for those tires on that truck.  Of course there's other variables like rim width, temperature, driving style etc... But that will get you close.  That being said, I probably would still run at least 35-40 psi in your situation.
