I Raced on ice for the first time last season here in Michigan. My R was pretty much blowing up, wouldn't even pull 6 th gear but I still had fun. I'm Going to ride my brothers LTR for the first race this weekend.  He's wants me ride his until I get my 250 done so I can get my points. Pretty cool of him.
Do you guys have a lot of people show up to race? What kind of classes?

Wasn't sure where to start this thread...

In Wisconsin we have two seasons, ice riding season and mosquito season. Bugs suck, so let's talk about ice!!

I myself have been riding ice for about 12 years. Started on quads then bikes, and now going to try three wheels.

Let's hear about your set ups or story's! Pictures are encouraged!! :)

That bike kicks ass!

In all of your winter motorsports adventures, have you or any friends, used nylon nuts inside your tires to help hold screws in?

I tried a couple #10-24 nuts last night, and can't get much more than finger tight before they end up just spinning.

Cool.

I'm setting mine up for ice, and was looking for some tips.

Good looking trike BTW.

I just picked up a nice 86 Atc 250r and now I'm getting it ready for winter riding.
Are you going to be riding ice or snow?

Thanks guys.

I think I did good on the deal. From the few I've seen for sale around here, I paid about $1k less and have a box off take-off parts and two new paddle tires on rims.

I cleaned and detailed the wheeler. She looks pretty good for an old unrestored machine.

I took the Answer silencer off because it was messed up at the coupler. Installed the factory one and got the jetting close for now. Changed the oil and lubed some pivot points.

Two of many questions I have for the pros are; I'm going to need a front tire for sandy/rocky trails. What should I look for? And, I'll be needing a second front rim for my ice riding set up. Where is a good spot to look for one besides eBay?

Thanks guys!

I like this. I may have to duplicate this in aluminum for myself.

Looking good!

Here's a crappy pic of one I did.

The gas can and oil jug are hanging off hooks that normally are used to hang ratchet straps. On the angle iron that rests on the bedsides are some axle U-bolts that hold 20' chains. And where you have the blade gussets, I used pipe, it works as a tie down point when hauling bikes.

Nice find!!!! Be sure to run all fresh fluid and oils...Keep and i out for leaks and listen to the motor for bad  or dried out seals...Have a blast man and giver hell.....

Going to run it around the yard awhile to see if it needs anything. Then crank seal and gaskets before winter.

It has low pro fenders. What other goodies does it have?  It looks like it is good condition.

From the previous owner, who I trust. It was an old race bike from out west.

Small over bore, ported, big flat slide, PT pipe, Answer silencer and wheel spacers.

It seems to be straight, minus the rear fender bracket is tweaked a bit.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Grew up in Waukesha, moved up near Crivitz for 6 years, now I've been back in Waukesha for a year.

I'm having a problem posting pictures using Photobucket. It rejects the whole post containing the picture. I'll figure it out later tonight when there's more time.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I lived near Crivitz for 6 years, now I'm back in my hometown of Waukesha, west of Milwaukee.

This what the new ride looked like when I picked her up.

During her first bath in ten years.

The plan is to get it running good. Screw the tires, ride it through the ice season. Then give it a resto in spring.

It has some mods; Paul Turner pipe, Answer silencer, small over bore, ported, flat slide carb and wheel spacers.

Hi. Mike from Wisconsin.

Getting back into ATC 250Rs, and found this site on a Tapatalk search. Thought a lot of stuff would crossover. And I see you have a ATC forum.
