BARRS competition ?
« on: November 05, 2013, 06:17:54 PM »
has anyone ever heard of them there shop is located about an hour and a half from me in shelby NC and i found an engine that they built for a decent price and am wondering if there work is good. i had never even heard of them unil i got to talkin to the guy with the engine he says they have done R engine building for years. i just dont want to spend $700 on a motor thats not been built properly when i have a spare set of cases that i could build myself for close to the same money. supposedly they rebuilt the crank, welded and balanced it, resleeved the cylinder with 72mm sleeve and ported it for midrange and its supposed to be fresh never ran. just wanting some input before i spend the money.

I've heard of them from time to time few years ago.
We had some riders, racing TT with us, that was getting help from them several years ago, but its been a good while since they been in the lime light.
Dont know a lot about them, I guess cause its been such a long time & I cant remember like I could back when they were around, ol minihimers stuff you know.

Talk him down & dont act like you just got to get it, just be like, oh well.
Most places like Barrs & quite a few others has gone 4 poke, so the ol 2 stroke is just something sitting in the way & they are ready to move it.
Sad what it has come to, AMA & the OEMs getting together & all you can get is this 4 stroke crap.

I seen it listed, OEM are coming back with 2 strokes, dont know which companys. Only thing, who can or could buy one, cause most all the racers are broke to death from trying to keep the 4 poker they got running.
Then another thing, if 2 strokes do come back, man you talk about some sick easy riding 4 stroke whooped riders, top pros will be rookies all over again trying to handle a 2 stroke.
