pressurize the case and check to be sure were the leak is

Should I do this through the vent or do I have to do it when doing a leakdown test?

Missed your response last night a minute before mine.  These are leaking cracks....I just posted pics.  I wish they weren't though.
were those cracks are located your going to have to split and weld for it to last more then a short non bumpy ride

I hope not.....it was not leaking bad when I got it.  Just annoys me to see a mess even if it is on my beater.

ya clean it up real good make sure all the oil is gone and put some sealant down it might last...???  it cant make it worse, give it a go, like you said its only going to make a mess if it leaks,
as long as you keep an eye on it and the oil level then when or if you have time get them done right

The cracks you observe travel beyond what the eye can see. If you weld a crack it will continue run away from the weld area. Welders will drill a hole just past the end of the crack for this purpose. Weld up to the hole and then fill the hole with a few passes.

The cases will need to be split to properly weld and machine them.  Case broken in this area is usually the result of flex in the frame or the swing arm pushing against the cases.

We have welded and machine hundreds of 250R cases over the years.  Cracks in the cases in this area will return if the suspension, swing arm bearings or riding style is not changed.  There is not any room to add additional material on the inside or outside of the case in this area.
