Need advice on a part out, but its not an R.

I've never parted out a complete quad, but I know many members here have.  I'm trying to decide if parting out my 2005 ltz400 is going to be worth it or a pain.  I've been trying to sell it for awhile and have had no serious offers.  Its on craigslist locally and the "other site" in the suzuki section.  I've got it at $3900 on craigslist right now and I've only had scammers inquire.  Here is a list of what its got.  What do you guys think?  Can I make good money parting this thing?  The unknown to me is the market for z400 parts.  I know R parts and 450 parts will have a much better market.  I just bought a 450R so I need to get rid of this thing to pay back the bank account before my wife kicks my butt.

I would call the condition of everything fair to good.  It was pro mx raced for one season and then only dune ridden very little since.

Could try posting it for sale at suzukicentral.com which is primarily a z400 site.  Only problem is the Z doesn't hold tons of value because there are so many out there (z400, kfx400, dvx400).  And the people on that forum are more on the thrifty side

Depriciating asset. You will always take a BIG hit on something when you throw money at it and it is not a popular model. Even more so with a 400 based machine, most people who want a performance based 4stroke are gonna go to a 450 based model. And you can ask all day long for the price you want, but the market will tell you what it is worth.

I would start looking on ebay for what individual parts are actually going for and see if it is worth it to take the time to part it out.  Time for me equals money.

Thanks Tony.  It looks good.  I'm not as active in the forum as I used to be, but I still check in daily.

I parted out a near mint z400 a while back. (about 2-2 1/2 years ago) The only problem with it was the guy hit a tree and bent the frame at the a-arm mount and the a-arm. The bike had less then 10 hrs on it. Took me forever to sell the stuff and I still have some of it left. The z400 market is not good. Since I paid pracitically nothing for the machine I had low prices and people still tried to low ball me. IE;  200.00 for all plastic and people still tried to chisle me. Ever see how much that stuff retails for? I made money but it took forever. I will never touch a z400 again. No market for them.

Ouch!  Not what I was hoping to hear, but I appreciate the advice.  If I decide to part it, I think I'll sell the suspension first.  If I get decent money for it, then I'll part the rest.
