Wats the part number for the outerwears cover for the ESR trx air box eliminator? I have a filter from ESR but its not a water repellent one. Shouldn't I use a water repellent one?

I have seen air boxes that deflect water so that air does not have a direct path to the filter.

I have seen guys spray the outerwear with a silicon spray to try to help it shed water.  Silicone might help it shed water if bucket of water was thrown at the filter the engine was not running

I have never seen a filter or outerwear repel water while running. Maybe there is something out there but I do not see how the filter could separate the water from the air.

All of the outerwears and filters I have seen, will suck water into the engine if water lands on their surface.

We have repaired a lot of engines that have digested water while running especially jet skis

K+N makes a dry charger that's treated with silicone that is clamed to be water repellent for one year  just Google  it and it has many different sizes available..not sure how well they work but I believe its what your looking for

Outswears has those water repellant ones also. They work for awhile.

this is the claim from the website....
direct quote from K+N...
DryCharger® - K&N DryChargers are manufactured from a durable polyester material and are pre-treated with a proprietary hydrophobic process designed to prevent splashes of water or mud from saturating your K&N air filter. The DryCharger will also stop small dirt particles; yet add little restriction to the airflow of the filter. Please be aware the DryCharger is water repellent, not water proof. Depending on conditions and usage the water repellent treatment is good for 1 to 2 years.

I'm not sure I would go puddle jumping and feel protected...probably works ok for an occasional splash only, but as stated only water repellent not water proof

We have tried a lot of different types of air filters, flame arrestors and water separators to keep the engines from ingesting water from the engine compartment on jet ski racing engines.  We have to modify the air intakes into the engine compartment to supply the engines with adequate air. Even with strategically placed air intakes a lot of water gets into the engine compartment.  Large bilge pumps constantly running minimizes the amount of water but it has been impossible to keep the water out of the engines with any of the commercially available products we have tried.  Our best efforts have been with trying to prevent direct splashes on the surface of the filter/flame arrestors.

They just help the water bead, on the filter's surface. They will not prevent, continuous water applied from entering the filter. As Barry stated and I have seen, they work with infrequent intervals of splashing.

ESR was out of stock when I got mine, I ordered outerwears part number 10-1010 and it fit perfect.  I cannot vouch for the water shedding properties.
