trying to decide which one i want for this banshee. the ballbearing style like slingshot and driveline or a finger type like direct drive.  does the ball style work just as good or better than a finger type ?   im leaning towards a ball style if it works just as good or better. probly have more clutch cover options if i went that route also.

more adjustability and easier to adjust the direct drive
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

ok so with the finger style you simply remove the small outer clutch cover and can add washers to the bolts ?  im assuming thats how the weight is adjusted

how is the ball style adjusted ?  appears you would need to have the bike on its side so the balls dont fall out. beyond that im lost how its adjusted

i know that gigot had older and newer versions that had different ramp rates (the angle of the channel the balls sit in was different), but those are in the plate and im thinking they arent adjustable, at least i couldnt see any way of it being adjustable on the one i had.

its super easy to adjust the dd, just flip bike up on the side take off ur lexan cover and adjust.

finger style is a 10-15 minute adjustment.  Typically I have a "kit" put together with specific weights (nut-washer) combinations for easy educated adjustments for the track.  Probably not that intense if your not 300ft racing, just need it to lockup and not burn up the clutch.

the slingshot you can adjust the ball weight tungsten or steel and you can adjust the spring tension by using different rate springs.

I use to run 3 light weight springs 3 normal springs in my cr500 setup then with the balls I could run half of them or all of them.

The sling shot adds more clamping force on top of your normal clutch setup so by adjusting the amount or weight of the balls you adjust you clamping force.

The direct drive is basically the same way, play with different spring tensions and weight on the 3 fingers to adjust clamping force.

Many people have found when running big tires if you build some slip into your clutch it will not bog the motor and get to the meat of the power band faster ultimately going faster down the track

if the finger type like mattoon or direct drive has a wider adjustment range and is easier/faster and less parts removal for adjustment, do you think this is the better choice ?  i never used one of these clutches so it may take me a while to figure out a good final setting. also i would like to keep the adjustment time and parts removal to a minimum

one other question. do the fingers wear a groove in the top side of the pressure plate where they fold back and forth ?

I believe the direct drive can hold more horsepower. But does not clear the kicker on a 250r. You must get the extended kicker shaft which is some serious $$$. The Gigot fits under the stock clutch cover. I am making under 100 horsepower and have no need to run heavier balls for adjustment. I run the Gigot on all my bikes. Have never run through a clutch yet on any of them which without the Gigot would only last one season. I know you were talking about a Banshee but this a 250r forum which many members look at this option for over 350cc.

i tried to get in touch with that gigot guy but he never responded. perhaps his lockup making days are over ?  if i went with the ball type i'd probly go with drive line as their stuff can easily be bought on ebay or their website but at this point im probly just gonna get a direct drive and call it a day
