What crank bearings to use 7 or 8 ball upgrade?
« on: November 07, 2014, 04:07:11 PM »
Just bought a brand new set of oem cases. They have the 7 ball crank bearings in them. These are still in the package from Honda. I was wondering if I should go ahead and have the 8 ball upgrade pressed in before I assemble my engine or should I leave it alone and just build the thing with the already installed 7 ball bearings? Is there any atvantage of running the 8 ball bearings? Do they last longer? Im sure there's an advantage but I don't know what it is. I will be putting a sphynx 300 top end on if that makes a difference. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would change to the 8 now being that the cases are apart.

8 ball is what the cr500 uses. If your going big bore then use the 8

Use the 8 for sure! More bearing will
Put less stress on the crank therefore making it more reliable
