Of course, keep in mind Hurley, you had Lasik done. There are supposed to be very different side effects between Lasik and PRK. Lasik is supposed to have a much faster healing rate and less pain involved. They say you are good to go after a few days with Lasik where PRK takes like 6 weeks or so.

Just got back from seeing the doc. Alright fellas, looks like it's a go for PRK. Should be scheduled for 2nd or 3rd week in November.

Mine original vision was 20/200, near sighted. I hated wearing glasses. Two days after LASIK, I was 20/15. Just relax and ask for an extra Valium if you're too worked up. I have a video of my procedure somewhere.  I woke up the next day, walked outside and was like holy shit. The colors were so vivid, and it seemed like I could see for miles. I can now read street signs at night better than my wife with her glasses on. Well worth the money spent.
That's what I like to hear! It's because of stories like that, that committed me to going through with it.

you're all good... 1000's of these procedures since the onset of the procedure.  I had my initial procedure in 2001, an enhancement in 2011 and still going strong.  Wish they would have had this procedure figured out when i was wake boarding the rivers and lakes around portland, OR.

There is nothing quite like being able to wake up and see what time it is on the alarm clock without fumbling for your glasses.  I had lasik done about 7 years ago and can still see great.  PC is right there is nothing quite like laying down smelling your eyes being smoked by lasers:hypnotysed:.  That being said I could see the very next day and would not trade my vision for anything.  Like everyone else said do your research and you will be very happy.

Dan is right the valium they offer helps.  Just remind yourself that you have no nerve endings in your eyes- all you will feel is pressure, and of course the smell

Man, it sounds like quite a few of you have had this done. Seems like I have been missing the boat! lol. The whole "smelling your eyes burning" should be interesting to say the least, and not a bit scary (insert sarcasm here). Doc has got me on all kinds of eye meds right now. He told me that the laser dries out your eyes. That is why some people have problems with severely dries eyes afterwards, which causes discomfort after the procedure. He says to combat that by getting your eyes as moist as they can going into the surgery. So he's got me on something to help my eyes produce more natural tears, a moisturizing drop several times a day, and moisturizing eye ointment at night when I go to bed. And I am taking all of them just as he directed. Hey, if it helps the healing process, I'm all for it!

I had a little problem with dry eyes after the procedure but for the most part I found the whole experience to be a major plus.  I think my eyes are a little more sensitive to light now but I don't know - I stare in microscopes all day without any bother.  I had a real hard time getting contacts in so I always had to wear glasses.  I remember how much I hated having to take my glasses off before I would wupp my little brother's butt :fighting0061:.  Lasik took care of that lol
