More questions!?

Just want to be sure I have this correct.....

Question #1

I have 2 different size shocks... 16.5 and 16 eye to eye.... Both rebuilt stockers....
The longer shock goes with the shorter dog bone correct?  And the shorter shock with the longer dog bone??

Not sure if it matters, but its an 87 frame with a -1 (88-89 length) lone star swinger.....

Question #2
For a 400ex spindle hub front end and yfz caliper, does it matter which caliper (to spindle) bolts to buy?  Should I order 400ex or yfz caliper bolts or are they the same?

Thanks in advance!

Question #1:
I've been looking at getting a new Axis rear shock for my 89.  For what it's worth these are the measurements Axis gave me for the 250R.
I thought the 87 spec was pretty strange but I only have the 86 and 88/89 so I couldn't verify the 87 number.  I always thought the shocks were the same...
86 > 16 3/8" (longer dog bone)
87 > 15 3/4"
88/89 > 16

Question #2
The bolts are 20mm.  Stock 250r bolts are 25mm and too long when mounted.  I used the YZ bolts.  I think the front bumper bolts are 20mm so you could use those in a pinch if needed.

THank you Bnau... I will order the YFZ bolts....

So I'm still not 100% clear on the rear shock...
So the longer shock uses the longer dog bone, and the shorter shock uses the shorter dog bone then?
And does my swingarm length being -1 (88-89 length on 87 frame) play into that or is that a moot point?
Thanks!

You want someone like troybilt to chime in.  The numbers I got came from Axis and are based on stock specs.  I have a Walsh 87 style swingarm @ 88/89 length and it uses the 88/89 linkage.

The numbers from Axis and the stock shocks sizes will differ because the Axis shocks are what length the shocks should be instead of what the factory put on the machines. The longer shock goes with the longer dogbone. The shorter shock goes with the shorter dog bone. The longer dog bones went on the 86-87 models. The shorter one came on the 88-89 models. The different length shocks and dogbones were used to get the correct ride height. I'm pretty sure you will want to use the shorter dog bone and shorter shock.
