Can you guys get me a measurement for the inside diameter of the bell housing (intake side) on your carbs and Smart carbs?  Not the outer diameter, I need the intake to match inside so the transition is minimized.  I'll get UPP to make an adaptor boot to go from the intake tube to the carb.  Right now I don't have a carb to use.  The intake design is mostly done.  I'm going to borrow Dan's airbox to get a box drawn up.
I will measure my 38mm SC tonight and let you know. Thanks Troy. I'm sure others will chime in with different carb types and sizes.

By the way the intake will use a UNI filter.  I'm working directly with UNI on a larger opening filter that will fit inside the stock/new airbox, absolute must on big bores.  I prefer UNI's filters, I've order some No-Toil filters as well as I've heard good things about those too.  A 4.5" ID KN will fit as well, if you have a hard on for K&N filters...

Looking pretty awesome so far, Troy! I am good with Uni filters as well. All I ask on the box is that you either make the lid opening around the same size as OEM so we can use an outerwear lid replacement OR incorporate something that will deter mud from being able to get on the filter.

That looks awesome Troy.

Being able to seal up the airbox is the most important thing for me

Don't worry I've got some tricks up my sleeve I'm going to do on this box, unlike anything I've done before.  It will be XC mud worthy, promise...

if you have time, can you explain a bit what the last pic that is showing flow characteristics is indicating? and what that means for flow benefit?

Just looking for if there is any Eddies or deadspots. There is part of the screen that I didn't capture with that pic that shows the actual velocity of various distances from the end...  but its basically irrelevant since I'm making assumptions for the pressure drop across the intake, long story short its slightly more than a pretty picture...  lol.  At some point, I want to use my SoMat and actually measure the pressures along the intake track.
