Hey guys and gals just want to say hello and introduce myself I'm a riding and wrenching nutcase from West Virginia who has owned over 30 some atvs/dirt bikes/atcs and I haven't even reached 20 years old lol I currently do not own a trx250r but I joined this forum to see if I could get any help on something I want to build. My idea is to take an old air cooled atc250r engine and put it in a 400ex frame and lighten lower and widen it a bit. I was curious to know if anyone else has attempted this.

Welcome to the forum.  My first thought about an air cooled 250r engine in a 400ex frame is that the sprocket on the engine is on the wrong side.  Maybe putting the axle in backwards with some new tabs on the swingarm for the brakes would make it possible.  either way, it still sounds cool.  Good luck with the build and enjoy the site!

My hopes was to use the bottom part of the atc frame to use the atc swingarm while still using the 400ex subframe and rear shock

Welcome to the site, you have really joined a great site with a bunch of 2 stroke engine lovers.
Measure & cut wisely, so it will look good when your done.
Do you know Shane Hitt from W VA, having been in atvs that long you probably would, but some times we can live next door to folks & never know their names.
