Hey guys i just need some help making some choices on weather i should sell some of my stuff to build a new engine or just use what i got. Its been almost a year since i havent been able to ride anything because of my accident and hopefully by next month i will be walking again and be able to ride. I know once im able to kick start my R i am going to want to just ride as far as i can and feel free again so im changing up my set-up from a duner to desert. As far as the chassis, suspension and tires go im prety much set. I have a CT national with a 38pwk that im wanting to run on pump gas. Dont have a pipe yet but im set on a CT midrange. Now my question is; will my CT national pull some 22" maxxis razr 2s and still be able to go WOT? This is my spare engine and i have never ran it. Im not looking for high HP i have a CT350PV and a Packard Puma for that. Im just looking for an engine thats reliable, good on gas, run pump gas and be able to pull 22" tires. In other words what kind of engine should i be building if i were to run a baja 1000?

I would think for reliability I would run stock stroke, long rod if you are going to run WOT for long extended periods. IMO a Sphynx cylinder with a nicasil bore will handle WOT runs for longer periods of time with less power drop. But I would only go with the 68 or 72 bore and upgrade your cooling system to keep it running cool.

Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.
Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

My CT national is a long rod with a spacer plate and on its second bore. Do you think i will still be able to use 6th gear? What gearing? maybe someone has a similar set-up that runs in the desert. I have searched many baja set-ups but they are all 450Rs. Then i caught myself looking into getting a 450R but I already have roll design everything and im not planing on racing anyway. In my opinion i think a LED 300PV sphynx would be the ultimate engine but then i would have to sell my national and maybe my 350PV top end to have enough for a 300PV and pipe combo. As far as cooling i got that covered with a monster radiator.

I noticed that you said you have a ct350pv. I just bought one, should be here in a few days. What do you do with it, dunes, mx, trail? How is it set up? Carb, reeds, exhaust. What crank and length rod? Spacer plate thickness? Ignition?
