So I just bought a junker 86 TRX from a guy that lives close to me, looks like he had it stored under a tarp beside his shed for the last 2 years. Guy told me it ran and then suddenly stopped, like it had an electrical problem. He changed out the whole electrical harness and stator for new ones from Ricky Stator and also put a new aftermarket red CDI (already thrown in the garbage). Told me he still couldn't get it running with all the new parts and he kicked it over so much he did something to the kicker and it wouldn't kick over anymore.
Machine does turn over but there is something definitely wrong with the kicker assembly, it wont return to the top after kicking it and it grinds. Started ripping it apart and got the exhaust off of it (was held on with hockey tape and 6 zip ties). I kicked it a few times with the exhaust pipe off and antifreeze is pouring out of the exhaust... What does everyone think, melted piston or blown head gasket?
Machine is rusty but seems to have a good frame, no cracks seen and only 1 broken off bolt found for the rear master, rattle can painted. Engine case halves look to both be good, no damage to clutch area and cases are mismatched 85-87/88-89 sides, after market front shocks, front and rear aluminum bumpers, unknown aftermarket axle, 3 different carbs (1 OEM, 2 larger ones) Rad valve, new rear tires, couple box's of random parts..
