How to determine what cc dome I need
« on: July 10, 2015, 05:27:49 PM »
My buddy and i are in the process of rebuilding a top end and our goal is to have around 200-215 lbs compression.   It's an 88/89 265 cylinder ported with a fresh bore and piston, it has oem crank long rod with 86 style piston and spacer plate. its most likely getting a new cool head with interchangeable domes.. So how do we figure out what dome and spacer is needed? I know we need to know the deck height and check the squish band afterwards but it's been so long I don't remember the exact process.

What pipe are you running?

Do you know what your port timings are?

What piston to head clearance do you plan on running?

How wide of a squish band are you going to run?

What type of fuel do you plan on running?

What are you expecting to happen to the shape of the power curve when you get 200 to 215 lbs of compression?

Is this your 1st experiment with different combustion chamber shapes?
