Author Topic: Swingarm skidplate question (Read 2997 times)

I have an old school skid on my r that decided to jettison its two rear bolts. I assume that there are spacers that go in between the skid and the swingarm like the two in the front. Now for the question. do these things have similar hardware that I could pick up somewhere or should I just go to the hardware store and try and find some generic spacers? I know it's not a looker but I don't want to buy another one just to beat it to death. Also if i do have to get generic spacers what would be a good material. Thank in advanced for any suggestions.

u should be able to find everything you need at the hardware store. just use spare bolt to find correct thread and pitch for the bolts. spacer material can be whatever you can find.

Thanks man, that's what I thought. Of course the spacer in my hand from the front is like 1/4 inch too short for me to use it to mock up the rear. I kinda want a close measurement so it clears everything but hangs as high as possible. I need three hands lol

I'm using a delrin/plastic type material spacer I got from home depot currently....I think next time I bend or break a bolt off and have to work on it, I'm gonna try some hard rubber strips with holes drilled into them for a little cushion.

I agree. Generic spacers can be easily found at your local hardware store. I know the Ace Hardware stores close t me usually carry a good selection of them.

That's what I did. Good old ace hardware. I like the idea of some harder plastic spacer cause thats what the fronts look like, might give some shock dampening. The ones I got were steel. Hopefully the harder steel won't cause the skid to crack or anything. I guess I'll see right :eek:
