Rear axle issues

Hey guys.  I just got my 86 durablue axle back from the chrome shop and I go to install with the new billet carrier I got from a member on the net forums and the axle is not fitting.  Anyone have any issues is installing a durablue axle before?  I have about f'd up the end where you can put a cotter pin trying to get this thing to slide in. It's like the bearing sleeve is a touch too small on the carrier for the part of the axle that rests inside the carrier.  Is it possible I have a carrier off another bike,  400ex,300ex,  etc?  I have lubed the axle up with grease for ease of install but it's fighting me.

250r, 400ex, 300ex and 250x all use the same rear axle bearing 40mm ID x 62 mm OD x 12mm wide.  that does not answer your question about wrong having the wrong carrier...that yet has to be determined. I'm just stating that the axle will go into the bearing carrier.
I'm with Rupp250....chromed bearing surface is giving it an interference fit.  do you have any calipers or micrometers to measure the axle?  can you please post a pic.  the bearing is starting to gouge the axle correct (digging into the chrome)?

The area that rests inside the carrier is not chromed on the axle.  There might be a little chrome where the splines end from the brake hub that I might be fighting.  IM gonna try to remove axle (it's partially in) and check to see if I need to clean chrome off.  Thanks for the advice

I'm with Joe on this one.  Must be the Chrome is just enough to be out of tolerance for the inner bearing race.
