88 250r running to rich?
« on: July 27, 2016, 03:42:24 PM »
hi I am new to the forum I have been fighting to get my 250r running right. it is all stock besides a fmf full exhaust and vforce 3 reeds. it is running real boggy and breaks up when you lay on the throttle. so I changed the oil, replaced the spark plug, installed a new uni air filter (not over oiled), and the reeds are brand new ( it ran the same prior to the reeds too), also cleaned and dipped carburetor and install carb rebuild kit. it seems to be running way to rich with 40:1 super mixed with spectro and this is with stock jetting even though it has a pipe and reeds which is why I find it very odd that its running the way it is if anything ide think it would run lean. compression feels great and it usually starts 1 kick. I don't believe the exhaust is clogged only be3cause its pretty loud and doesn't sound muffled. im stumped. maybe bad crank seal? burning trans oil? ill have to ride it and check oil level I guess.

Well can't tell you anything without knowing carb size, main jet size, needle # and clip position, piliot jet size, number of turns on air screw,  elevation, and temps. Even then, you will only get  close to get a base to start jetting.
What's your plug look like.? Where is it getting choppy on throttle position? What octane raiting are you running?
So many variables with so little info.:arg::arg:
