CR ignition constant voltage

Hey guys, I currently have a 2001 CR ignition and I want to run an egt unit such as this.

So my question is does anyone know if one of the wires going to the coil has constant voltage and what that voltage is? The unit will operate off of AC or DC but the info on the website is kind of confusing since it says just 12 volts. You would think that on AC you would need more voltage. So, if anyone has experience with these or is an ignition guru any help would be great.

No, the CR ignition does not have constant voltage.

Also, the normal measurement for AC voltage is what is known as "RMS" voltage, which calculates out to be essentially the same power as the same in DC voltage.  12V AC is actually almost 17 volts peak to peak, but it is still described as 12VAC.

Just as an update after talking to Ricky Stator I ended up buying a new stator with a parallel lighting circuit and a A/C voltage regulator. The egt works just not at idle. The egt pops to life after about 1/8 throttle, which is fine by me. If I wanted to have power at idle I would have to buy a rectifier and then probably would still have to hook up a small battery. Or I could just hook up a small battery and not even use the stator, I would just have to charge the battery in between rides. Just an FYI for anyone interested.
