I rode one a while ago.  I liked it alot.  But it is a BIG machine.  For a BIG guy.  I was much more comfortable on it than a raptor.

I've never ridden one but I remember sitting on them at the dealership and thinking, wow, this is like sitting on a car.  I don't think you ride them so much as drive them.  As noted above, they are more suited to large riders.  At Pismo I'd see the big fellas riding them.  From what I understand they have a powerful engine.

I have a fair amount of seat time on one. As stated above, VERY big machine, very heavy at almost 500 lbs, but very comfy.

Even though it's big and heavy, that mill has no trouble making speed.

Downside and a big one for me was extremely twitchy steering, especially at higher speeds on gravel. BUT, the one I have ridden alot is a 2000, the first year out. I had heard BRP addressed the twitchyness with different A-arms and greatly reduced the issue.

My ATC isn't twitchy AT ALL! ;)

Funny you say twitchy,  I rode a 700 Raptor a couple years ago and thats how that was then today I rode the DS in a hard packed field went thur all the gears let off and thought I was gonna go over the bars and die its really strange handeling! Other than them 2 I've just rode 4x4s. ?This one is a 2005 really nice shape does not have the pulling feeling lige my 2 ATC's. And no my ATC track straight when I let off especially my 330 with progressive front springs and 3 stage progressive rear valving.

I had a 05 Ds650 and liked it a lot. I mainly rode it in the sand and used my yfz450 for trails and such. I only weigh 155lbs. And it was big but not terrible.  I sold it to get a 08 raptor 700r. I liked the raptor much better but I still had two fun years on the ds650.

One thing I always really like about the DS, just about every pivot point and joint has a zerk right from the factory. I bet it would be decades before a joint wore out if greased regularly... That's something I wish they all did!

My mom has had a 2000 for years and its a pretty great quad. Rides like a caddy and is very easy to ride. If she keeps it I'd eventually like to get a steering stabilizer, Ron woods pipe and ditch the rev limiter
