ESR quick change clutch cover opinions?
« on: November 14, 2013, 08:34:10 PM »
Does anyone have one of the ESR quick change clutch covers?  The price is attractive but I am not sure about the quality and wanted some opinions.  I am not after the looks I just want the functionality of it.  I know I can get one from burgard and also CT had a couple polished ones but they were more money.

I have been using one for 2 years now. Do realize they are new and you should heat it up before pressing the water pump bearing in.

Other than the bearing, no issues with it at all?

The surface the bearing was being pushed into did not seem square or machined square to the  bearing bore. I guess what I am saying it was not the same as OEM ones we are used to. Did not really have any issues with anything.

Back when they first came out on sale for $199 the WP mech seal and bearing were shipped on the side. I see that the price has gone up to $299

Back when I got mine, they were still $199 and mine came ready to go with bearing and seal installed. I have raced the entire year with it and rode quite a bit last year. Zero issues to date. Have not actually used the quick change function yet, but have had no issues with any leaking anyway.

That's a good point Puma.  A lot of folks don't think about or don't know to check bearing clearances.  That's a extremely important thing to do on a new, never used part.  Also a rule of thumb for installing bearings is to avoid pressing them into cast parts, always use heat if possible.
Let the good times roll............

I had one on the last build. It worked great with no problems at all and I would absolutely get another.

I've been running one for about 8 months with no trouble. I'd buy another in a heart beat.

I bought one when they first came out and were 199. The bearing and mech seal were installed on mine and I have been running it for 2 seasons now and everything still works great with no leaks.
