Time for a new pipe... What should I get?

I run mostly trails and a little track. I've got a 66.5 piston so basically stock. I'm currently running an fmf fatty and I've been happy with it. But all the ESR trx5 pipe talk has me interested. Most of you guys that are running this pipe have big bore set ups. It might be a silly question but is the trx5 pipe too much for a stock cylinder? And is center mount more for duners.

Does the center mount pose a problem for those that might use the entire rear shock travel?

I ran a TRX5CM on my stock cylinder and it performed great. No issue with rear travel.
DRAG- Puma in a Ziggy Chassis
TRAIL -86  250R ported stock cylinder
DUNER -86 250R  Flinstone

I plan on getting a LRD/LED 250B pipe here soon to replace my 10 year old one. I would recommend it and Arlan is a site sponsor with a ton of knowledge. Give him a call he will be more than glad to talk to you about it.

I recently switched from a fatty to a trx5, at the same time I swapped from a pj36 carb to a 38 airstriker. I lost a little bit of bottom end power but picked up on the top end and the over rev was much better.  I am sure it would be faster in a drag race but took more work to keep moving in the trails. I am not sure if it was the pipe or carb or both that caused the loss of bottom end but I wanted to share my experience.

Also consider that the centermount doesn't work very well with a taillight or at all with the stock airbox.

Looks mainly but it think it has a longer stinger by just alittle

Stinger is shorter and more of a straight shot to the silencer.

The center mount design is also to help reduce heat.

The 5 would be a great pipe for you. The question about the center mount for your riding comes down to water from creeks and puddles vs a lack of an air box. If you are going to be slpashing through water the gains recieved from going with the center mount pipe with an air box eliminator kit and outerwear are not worth it. If water is not going to be a problem then go with the center mount kit.

Water and mud will be a problem... so centermount is not an option.
