drove a ways to ride. shortly after we left the truck it must have blown a head gasket. i believe this motor has a untrue cylinder or head surface because it has blown the head gasket a few times. decided to keep riding and was adding water as it burned it out or boiled it over. geuss it went thru water faster than we thought it would and overheated it and melted down the piston. its ok tho that motor has years of abuse. thats why i just ran it. got home and bolted up a oem 250 cylinder and had it running before the sunset same day. it wont run as good as the 295 that was in it but it runs at least.

Used to do the same thing out on the dunes. Stop at every water hole and get some more fluid. Refill back at the parking lot. Big problem was next weekend out the rings were stuck to the bore. Would have to pull start it again in the parking lot to break the rings loose. Pulled the head and sanded it smooth with sand paper on a flat table. Head gaskets are spendy at $30 a shot.The 295 OEM always seemed to have a cooling problem. Finally purchased a 310 kit from CT. Not much more power but I didn't have to carry a water bottle with me and hunt for a low spot.:sign0108:
