A friend and I took off yesterday to the desert to just do some tuning on our bikes. Both are new builds and we wanted to get the tires spinning out in the dirt instead of trying to tune on the pavement. I've got mine tuned in pretty well, however his pro x 330 seems very lean and had some interesting spark plug things going on . He is running a Prox 330 it is ported buy a very reputable builder, has an lrd big bore pipe, stock intake, open box, k&n 39 pwk, 45pilot, dgj needle. We tried all kinds of stuff jets, needles...etc.. it still ran best with this setup but main was lean imo at a 162, go up one size and it would sputter. Pull the plug and it was very odd looking... like two face rich on one side and lean on the other. Plug porcelin was white like a lean bike but had almost rich black wet deposit on one side and on half of the outer ring around the electrode. I'm leaning toward this thing having some type of ign issue or a coolant leak? but doesn't over heat and isn't loosing fluid or smoking alot. unfortunately I don't have a pic of the plug but I will get one. But he popped the head and sent me some pics of the inside. O rings do not look burned but I'm not sure if it looks like the chamber is being washed out with fuel or coolant. It seemed awful clean. We ran the bikes pretty hard for probably 1 to 1.5 hr...so opinions please here are some pics of the inside. I also want to add this bike has a nos cdi that he just got and has swapped 2 different stators so if it is ignition we are thinking wiring harness or who knows?

I wouldn't say you problem is defiantly electrical,

but it never hurts to take some contact cleaner and a tooth brush to ALL the pin connections, and follow with high pressure air to blow them out...
when doing this use a bright light to look CLOSELY at all the connectors. Looking for any dark or yellow spots that would indicate heat has been present, if you find any spots on the connectors make sure the wire to pin connection is a clean solid connection,

also it might be time to redo the plug cap connection by taking of about a 1/4" from the end to get a clean connection at the plug cap
and check your ground very well, this also includes the motor mount as this is part of the ground path, make sure they are tight and show no signs of oxidation,

with this being said: are you sure his motor is air tight? from intake through the exhaust

I'm going to build him a new harness anyway this week so that will eliminate that,  but the frame is fresh pc maybe it isn't grounding well. Although I would imagine its ok. We have ohmd the coil and it checked ok, cap and plug wire end are new. I personally am not sure if it is air tight but it is a rich condition causing us to lean it out. Not air leak condition. It would be water or crank oil from main seal but I do not believe that is happening either. We have both built tons of motor and are very attentive to details on assembly. It has no external leaks that I am sure of. I was a little confused with the first sentence of your post though..we have also tried different plug gaps with no change in performance also gone between 8 and 9 plug also no real difference.

make sure there is a good motor ground, if the frame or motor has been PC'ed that might be your problem...many electrical issues mimic jetting and combustion problems(that's what I meant in the first sentence of my previous post)

piston coloring like that with only a couple hours of run time tells me it is lean, a rich motor will have a clean bare alum finish especially with only a couple hours of run time
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.
