Aftermarket CR250 Ignitions
« on: January 31, 2014, 06:12:55 PM »
Has any one heard of Horse Power Ignition?  Their out of Belgium but have dealers in Canada and the US and they have the full 2001 CR250 ignition components. This may be a good alternative since Honda has ceased production. I'm going to contact a Canadian distributer and see what the cost is.

I have eyed these before.. but haven't found much about them but didn't find terrible reviews.  I like that they're user programmable.
Here's the direct link to the box:

And a US shop that carries them and sells online ($350 for the CDI and curve selector switch):

HPI also sells complete ignition and lighting staters. You can get all parts new, just need to get some pricing. I looked into honda of Canada and there are no ignitions or cdi's available this side of the border either, time to look into other options.

Looks like the US shop has the cdi in stock - what would taxes/duty fee be to get it to Canada?  I've also seen a few CR250 cdi's on eBay in the past week if you're needing one

I've got a complete CR ignition on one motor and wanting one for a new build I'm working on. Just looking for options since you can't buy new. On a side note one of the Canadian distributors builds their own kart motors.
