Whenever I see your screen name it reminds me of my first R that I kept frying the piston on. I kept putting in bigger and bigger main jets but kept seizing up at full throttle. I would go to the "Flat Track" at the dunes and do several laps as fast as I could hang onto the throttle. Nothing like the feel of weightlessness as you roll off one dune onto the next. Then as its screaming down the straight a way it starts sputtering and then nothing. Get the tow strap out and get towed back to the parking lot. Did this for about a month and a half every weekend at Florence. Just took it home pulled the cylinder and took off the melted aluminum  from the piston on the bore with some hand sanding. Ordered a piston from magic racing on Monday and put it in on Wednesday. This was costing a $100 a week. So I decided to get smart and get a CT 310 kit for $975. The power increase was amazing. But soon after break in I headed over to the "Flat Track". Son of a grass hopper I did it again. I Called Allen at CT racing on Monday and explained to him what was happening. There was a brief pause in the conversation and Allen says "Tony, you have to change the way you ride". I was like WTH? Turns out I learned you can have the proper jets for your motor but in wide open conditions you must blip the throttle to get some turbulence through the motor keeping the piston cool enough it won't start melting.  He was saying I needed to start doing this and go up another main jet size than normal to keep from being to lean. So now I see PINNED has in his signature that he is jetted for WOT.

Sometimes I forget running WOT, usually just at the top of the hill. Blip the throttle a few times and hope no damage has done. Hard on spark plugs with the puma. It makes me worry to the point of wanting one of those smart carbs.
