I find this unique and a great addition to a man cave.

What I did was start out with this tasty Belgium red from Sam Adams. Once I enjoyed that I did a nice rinse. I then went to the hardware store and got enough piping to rig up this structure. I also picked up a dimmer, valve handle and lamp socket. I still need to get a bulb. I had an old extension cord I lopped the end off.

Last night I dismantled the switch and adjusted it to be as cylindrical as possible. I will also have to cut off the switch to the lamp socket once I verify the closed position. Both the socket and switch orifices will need to be enlarged so the items can fit inside. Both items will be wrapped in electrical tape beforehand so no shock occurs.

I also drilled a hole in the base and secured a grommet to protect the power cord. Before and assembly is done I will tack weld all joint to ensure they do not move. I will also have to remove the nasty coating from the whole piece. In addition I will be removing the blue coating from the handle and making it appear roughed up and bare.

With the bulb fitment you will need to break the glass part of the bulb do the filament will fit inside. I'll be using jb weld to adhere the bulb to the mouth of the bottle. Once all is set and everything is in place I will screw in the bottle as if it were a light bulb. I chose this bottle due to its unique look and the label. It's a decal type of label and not a sticker.

Anyways, more to come later.

This gives me the idea of making one out of a pipe....obviously it'd have to be a pretty hefty sized lamp...
I ride PINNED! Therefore, no bdt in this household.

I'm running 3/4" pipe. Today I ran into an issue that I didn't know about. Gases in the bulb. Incandescent bulbs have argon or something in them to keep the filament from burning out. In order to use the bulb type I have you have to install a a schrader valve and use a vacuum pump to remove the air.

The remedy to this is using a low watt halogen bulb. Tomorrow I'll be picking one or two up to use. Two since I broke the filament on my first one today!

Before removal of the metal tab.

Applying the jb weld and keeping it lined up straight by using the sleeve from the lamp socket.
