i have always sprayed my chrome pipes with wd40 after letting it cool of course whenever i was not going to be riding the bike within the next few days to keep them from rusting and have never had any discoloring or any problems over the years but trx5 pipe i have now keeps developing a wierd discoration that is hard to remove what do you guys do to prevent rust on the esr pipes?

Rust is in my inevitable future. Sorry man I can't help you much. Discoloring is just a fact of life if you ask me. No matter what all my pipes will do it eventually. Raw or chrome matters none. My maintenance regiment is more so because of my location. But like I said, its inevitable in my case.

Been seeing a lot in the news about the lava flow, how you doing with that or its not close to you.

One little trick I've done over the years, WD40 & the finest steel wool you can find & rub the areas that have lost their shine. After a while though & doing it so many times it will scratch the chrome, but it will bide you some time.

The new Esr pipes discolor no matter what due to cheap chroming. It requires a lot of elbow grease(or air) to get them nice again. Even more fun when you burn coolant on it :/ whoops.

No the lava is not effecting me. that is on a different island. Last I heard it was begining to on someones property. You cant do much of anything to prevent or divert the flow. Its a touchy subject here.

If pipe is raw Kenney Roberts showed me what he uses plain old Extra Virgin Olive Oil! I now use it on all me pipes after ride I soak a rag in olive oil and rub it on all my pipes now

You know, I dont think the Olive oil will burn like regular cooking oil, so it should stand up to the high heat.
