CDI box issues.....which and where to get one?

Hey guys, I am going through my ignition system, and chasing a probable electrical system.  Bike runs strong for a few minutes, then loses power, pops and backfires.  I am thinking a timing issue, and likely a CDI issue.  Its not a fuel problem, that has all been checked, so for sake of this thread, lets assume its an electrical problem.  I have my stator cover off, but won't be able to pull the flywheel until tomorrow.  Lots of rust under there and when inspecting, I notice, when viewing the stator through the holes, the stator rocks back a forth a little, as I rotate the flywheel back and forth.  I assume that is not normal, but like I said, I can't pull it for another day or two.

Regardless what I find with the stator (it and the pulser check fine on ohms), I would like to obtain an '86-87 CDI, to swap to, to see if the power loss problem goes away, and just to have a spare on hand.  I have had a couple gracious offers on CDI's by a couple fine folks here, but neither are for '86-87.

So, looking on ebay, are the $33 Caltric CDI's worth buying?  I know OEM is the way to go on most everything, but those are hard to find new, and buying used off ebay kinda scares me.  Just trying to get some information, should I decide I need to try another CDI in the coming days.  What is my best bet for a reliable, cheap '86-87 CDI I can use for testing??????

I have the 87 model I believe. I only bought 2 86's and the other 10 are 87. If you pay the $6 shipping I will send one your way for trial.
