Has a stator made your R run bad. Nightare!!!

Well it goes like this last fall I went from full air box to ESR eliminator on my PSI ported stock cylinder. BDT did the entire motor 3 years ago never had a problem with it. I installed a new CDI and coil that were OEM 39mm Kehin carb. SI jetted richer than it was and packed my silencer with Lexx brand packing which blew out and plugged my spark screen and overheated my motor bad. then I blew the top end. So had Bubba get me a piston and bore put it back together and it rand up to half throttle perfect and would bog like crazyafter half throttle. I leak down tested, swapped pipes, silencers, carbs, CDI, jetting. Nothing would help. check flywheel key thats good. So it was suggested to try stator so I put a NEW ricks electric one I had and it wouldn't start! so I tried all 3 OEM CDIs I have nothing put in a new ricks electric CDI and it started but had real sluggish throttle response kike when I tried it in the past. Then I put in a old OEM CDI fires right up and runs perfect. WTF!!!thats all I can say. I can only imange how much $$ people have wasted fixing motors and its the stator. What a good new stator to buy???

I have had a lot of problems with the new stators and flywheels from Ricks on the Banshees and Hondas.  They usually run like the main jet is too rich.  When we change the stator back to an OEM and they run fine.  We installed one new stator on  a 250 Honda and it would not spark.  All of the resistance values on the Ricks stator was the same as an OEM Honda but it would not spark.  We installed a new OEM stator and it ran great.

A stator components must have had the polarity backward preventing it from sparking since the resistance values were good.

I thought they were A/C

The lighting coils are ac and so is the ignition source coil.  The CDI box will rectify and charge the capacitor with the correct polarity.  Most trigger pickups put out a distorted sine wave with a long zero voltage span before it goes negative.  Most of the CDI boxes monitor the voltage from the pickup as it is going from positive to negative and triggers at the zero crossing.

If the wires on the pickup are reversed I think that the CDI box sees a wave form that starts off negative and is going positive at zero crossing.  When this happens the CDI box never sees a positive going negative zero crossing signal, thus the CDI box nevers gets a command to fire the coil..............no spark.

I had a lot of the same probs your talking about when I built my last motor And tried everything possible but I could never rely on her to start or run properly from one day to the next. I finally said forget the stock ignition system bit the bullet a bought a 01 cr ignition and I have never had a problem with my bike since then! It starts 1st-2nd kick every time regardless of temp and runs like a champ every time ! My only regret is that I didn't buy it a long time ago

In the banshee world its well known to advoid Ricks or ricky stator etc, stators & cdi's. Im sure it applies to 250rs as well. Does anyone happen to know of a good company who rebuilds stock oem stators?
