Rebuilding bottom end

I tore in a old drag racing 250r bottom end today and found that it use to be ran on methanol because the crank area had some corrosion on the aluminum. Is this a problem? It could be cleaned up when I bead blast it but it will still have little pits all in it. The bearing races are still in great shape plus the case saver mounts are still in tact so I would like to save it if I could. Also, I found that the shift forks are showing some wear but the gears look in great shape even where the forks ride in the gears. I know I need to replace the forks but can I get away without changing the gears they ride in or will it just turn my new forks like the ones I replaced? I've had this problem in older Rs and it usually shows wear in the gears also but this tranny doesn't.

you can bead blast the cases or use sanding rolls/scotchbrite pads on a grinder to remove the corrosion and the cases will be fine.
the gears can be reused with new forks as long as the grooves are in good shape so you do not prematurity wear the new forks.
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.
