I was checking out ESR website and came across the dual plug head, he states you need 2 ignition coils but that is not necessarily true.

I have a dual plug setup on my liger with the 00-01 ignition and just use a single arctic cat twin snowmobile coil that has a single input dual out put.

It is more of a alky thing then for your ride. They have been running them on alky micro sprints for a while.

I can't backup any gains, but IMO the dual plug setup should increase the speed of combustion due to 2 flame fronts expanding, meaning less advance in ign timing should be needed.(my motor seams to follow this theory)
Less ign timing added means less pressure is seen by the piston on the upstroke. It has been seen with high end test equipment that our motors even running perfect misfire much more than we would believe, so maybe a second plug would have lit off the mixture lessening misfires
But ultimately dyno and field testing proves or disproves theory as we all know.

Fords new 6.2l engine utilizes 2 spark plugs per hole. Must be something to it.

Arctic cat uses 2 plugs per cylinder on their 800 and 1000cc twins, not sure if a small bore would notice as big of a differance as a large bore like mine (97mm)

yes, just as you stated it; it explains the efficiency gains which translates into more power everywhere.

My dual plug head is almost exactly like esr's but arctic cat has them turned 90 degrees from how esr and I did it.
They actually still have a plug in the center and another on the intake side of the dome

Nissan trucks were running dual plugs back in the early 80's.

The Honda fl250 oddyssey had 2 plugs in the head, but I don't remember whether they were both even hooked up??

Im not really sure. If you fouled a live plug. The dead one most certainly would be fouled. But there was deff two plug holes.

here is my dome with dual plugs, this was after a 101 dyno pulls, the small hole in the center is for the compression release
