Season is about half over.....

and how are you making out so far? Progress report time? I know we have a few out there that are racing and curious how the season is going so far.

Me....Been a tough year $$$$ wise so haven't got to race as much as I would like. The races i did get to run managed to pull two 1's and 2nd. My class isn't huge, any where from 3 to 8 riders, but still a blast to run as it's a bunch of Vet riders who just enjoy getting out there and ridiing. Hope to get a few races in...we'll see

My season hasn't been great, but it hasn't been awful either. It has been a huge learning experience. It has cost me alot of money this year in motor stuff, suspension stuff, and general supplies, but it has been a blast. I have not finished very well yet this year, but I have pulled several holeshots. My biggest problem has been my stamina, but I have been working hard to change that. My R has been plenty fast enough, but I have been fading out after the 3rd lap. I have also had some rough bumps along the way with some super harsh landings either during racing or in practice. I am starting to get this worked out also. I have been running C class in the SE quad series down here in the Southeast and having alot of fun with it. There is about 5-7 of us that are regulars in the C class. I have started training under one of the local pro riders, and that has been helping me with my technique also. Most of the tracks down here have been supercross style so there has been alot of long open straights, but many jumps to contend with. It truly takes a real rider to race one of these machines. Those 450's are so easy to ride in comparison. I have another race coming up July 20th that I am hoping is going to turn out good. I hope to have some good video to show, and maybe even a 1st or 2nd place finish to share. Either way, good luck Joe in the coming races.

If you are running the SE series get in touch with Norris Quinn for suspension as well as nutrition, training. I'm no great eater that's for sure but for me I found if I eat cherries, grapes something with a natural sugar during the race day I do well...not so much finish but energy. Stay hydrated and keep in the shade. Seat time is the best thing to get your stamina up and once you get it to where you can go a full moto 100% it comes back the following year much quicker. It took me forever to get rid of arm pump then one day at a practice after playing cat and mouse with another rider poor it was gone. Don't get me wrong my arms will get sore but don't lock up like they use to.

This year will be the hardest both $$ and exercise wise but next year will be much easier on both levels. Keep driving, stay focused and keep us posted on your progress!!

Joe,

Funny you should mention Norris. Actually, I already am. He is the one who built my rear shock and has been working with me to get my suspension setup. Right now, he has basically been coaching me on how to get what I want out of my suspension. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep you posted, and you do the same.
