Its BAAAACCCKKK!!! I don't know what is going on with this thing!! It died on my wife in the middle of the woods at Durhamtown plantation Sunday. I thought she just fouled a plug i put a new one in and nothing! It has been running great the last month or so first or second kick starts, more smoke than i would consider normal esp. when my brother got on it at his house it looked like he was fogging mosquitos.
Monday night i worked over all the connections cleaning and tightening. Took about 1/2 inch off the coil wire to make sure there was a good connection to the plug, and re seated the ground wire. Got on it and second kick fired up, i warmed it up and shut it off. The next day at lunch i got on it started it up and was about 1 minute into warm up and it died, it wouldn't start back up. Smell of gas was strong like it was flooded. I shut all the fuel off and went back to work. Yesterday morning, I jumped on it and tried to start it with 5 or 6 good kicks...nothing. The plastic was off so I started fiddling with the ground wire while trying to start it (multi-talented), i was moving the whole wire around and it fired for a few seconds and I stopped and it died. I tried it again and got some very promising hits when giggling the wire. Im thinking GROUND WIRE short. So I went and got some wire and solidered in a new splice as the ground was already tight in the factory location. Fully expecting fire when i got it done... i was disappointed with kick after kick after kick. I didn't replace the whole wire just took about 1 inch off factory wire and added about 3 inches of new wire. Im going to try and replace the whole ground wire to the point where it meets the coupler point further along in the harness. Any other ideas are more than welcome!!!
