International Transaction Scamming w/ PayPal

This is the third time i've heard of this happening in recent memory. Seller ships an item out of the country, buyer files a PayPal dispute once the item is in their hands......nothing the seller can do. This sucks and i'd be very cautious about shipping to another country, including Canada

Just shipped to France. As far as I am concerned it only has to make it to their country. We cannot be financially responsible for what another country does. I believe Paypal just needs a tracking # to follow up. Some countries add taxes to the item. Some countries have dishonest mail carriers. I believe you only have to show it made it to their country and the address is correct. Yes, early on we were scammed $1000's by Australian name of John Cena.

Wasn't John, one of his followers. Selling Cena CD's and buying Banshee parts.

Word of advice, only sell to those, of good reputation. I know when money is needed, you don't always have that choice. But the alternative, is worse. :dejection:

I hear you...the honest people get screwed over by the dishonest over the ponds. I shipped parts to Vroomy because he is a member here. Would not hesitate to ship to our members or 250r freaks that look up parts on TRL. Its the ebay buyers from overseas that you have to worry about.

Several things you should think about first when selling to anybody & anywhere.
If you in a tight, selling atv parts online not the best way to get money in a hurry, because it could be a drawn out process, so go ahead & put it in your memory banks to sell those parts somewhere else if that is the case.

Dont sell a part to anywhere, that you cant drive to get it back or at least bring a piece of the buyers back side back with you. Looking eye to eye, normally you'll have the best results.

Before you even think about selling to a member, "LOOK" at the post count & think back in your mind how much that member has been on the site helping folks. This may be the most important, because if they have been a member for a good while, probably will have some respect & not try to stick you, OH and thanks Pumashine, again for what you did.

As it stands right now with this Canada thing, now I know its bad for you guys living up there, but we as .Org members, really need to think before we ship anything else across that border. Kinda like a sign at a race track, "Ride at your own RISK" if you do ship.

Like Neil says..do a bit of research on the person...Also check their age and make sure they send you nice CLEAR photo's.....I dealt with a 15yr old punk that was Selling an FCR carb a few years back...told me it was a BOLT-ON for the 400ex.....said he had just removed it and put it up for sale.....So I thought perfect.....it'll fit the wife's 400ex and get rid of the carb issues I was having....I bought it for $150.....then he ships it and declares the value of goods at $500!!!! So they charged me Duty, Taxes & Brokerage on the $500 value!!!! I was pissed......it cost me after all that close to $500 and when I opend the box it was a STOCK YZF400 carb....missing the , Air Screw....the idle cable was busted....funny how he held the carb in his hand to cover that!!!....Wouldn't bolt on like he said...not even close!!!  So I was screwed! If I sent it back it would be more for Shipping and all to get $150 bucks back!!! Sorry for the lengthy post....but that really ticked me off!!! :(

I have a place that I use in Port Huron to ship to for people who don't want to ship to Canada which seems to be about 75% of my transactions.  I sometimes wonder if it's filling out the customs paperwork that get some not wanting to ship up north or the possibility of getting screwed over.  For the most part i buy from reputable people on the forums and a couple of good 250R resellers on eBay and haven't had any issues.  I do hesitate at giving as a gift unless I'm confident in the seller - again that's why I would only by from certain people.
