Man I watched the video again, and seen you have one of those "piston killer" tank vent caps. Those are cool but can plug and cause fuel delivery issues when they don't vent properly.

Every time I come back to this page, more and more I want to try to hit this race next year. It looks like a blast even if I came in last place. I would be in the beginner quad class.

Bowtie this race is a blast. This year was the first one I've missed in quite a few years. I've been trying for years to get others to try it, but never was successful. I gotta get some shocks rebuilt... Last year I did beginner open dirtbike only, but I usually just do the supermoto. The XC is a blast too tho. It's all fun and you're gonna ride some pavement regardless of which race you do.

I'm running this race next year. I just have a further drive next time but will making a weekend of it. Hell, it's fun watching the supermoto around the bus stop area. Lots of pics taken. Lots of money rolling around to include the turbocharged rzr.

I'm going back and maybe the wife will want to ride enough that she'll let me build her one.

This race has really blown up in the past 15 years+. Used to be just a bunch of us showing up in pick ups (enclosed trailers were for the rich haha). PC and BT, my best ever finish was the first time I did it and that was 4th in XC(no supermoto class back in then, around 1996?

? maybe 97). I had 3 banshees beat me and was the first R across the line in the amateur class. I think there was 14-16 other riders in my class. I still have some pics from then(nothing exciting) and honestly the course hasn't changed much(even tho they do mix it up).

Are there rules for these races? Safety and whatnot? I don't want to get there and not be able to run because of not having a killswitch or heel guards or something. I checked on the goldrush website and there is not anything posted that I could find.

I do have to say that for 18 years they don't have good advertising. Their website isn't good as well.

Rules from what I know is just helmet and gloves. Pants are smart as well as boots. No kill switch required or heel guards or nerfs. They told me it's basically run what you brung. I personally run my whole uniform with chest protector and neck brace. I happen to have nerfs and a tether. I like the tether but it was interesting doing the cold start with it. Just have to cross your hands over each other.

If you watch my video you actually hear the guy next to me and his quad running when it should have been off! Not much checking by the official.

Besides all of that, it was a blast for just the time I raced and watching the supermoto.

Well hell, equipment-wise, I'm good to go now, just a few weeks late.

Is the beginner quad race shorter than the amateur? I might enter in both then bail on the amateur if my body or equipment fails me.

I am way to dang excited about this race for it being a year away.

The beginner is shorter in time and distance. I don't know the course but I've looked at the lap times and they are quicker. I assume that they block off areas for different skill levels. Expert and amateur are the same. Beginner XC also competes a day before the amateur and pro.

I also know that if you pay to enter you don't get a refund. You also don't have to worry about the registration ahead of time. I showed up the evening prior, dropped off my trailer, registered and headed to my hotel. If I had no kids I would have slept out in the truck or trailer. It was a little cold though and 2014 the races are from Nov 7-9 from what they have on the website.

Alright. It's back together! This is a quick clip from my phone of its first crank after the rebuild. The compression is a lot more. The arch of my foot hurts. Military style boot doesn't help as much as I thought.

I through in a quick walk around in the garage. There you can briefly see how the yfz motor fits. Lower mounts need attention the most. I might throw on my 86 swinger just for alignment purposes. I'd like to have the motor mounted so I can work on oil tank and battery tray mounts.

Enough about that. The 344 is in and that was one of two idles I performed on the rebuild. Not too much time I have lately so this break in procedure will take a little bit of time.
