Pipe rubbing the coolant line.
« on: November 19, 2013, 01:18:55 PM »
I just got a brand new led 350 pipe and I ran into this same issue before. Its not touching the line but its soooo close I was wondering if anyone has used esr pro x water neck they say It helps move the coolant line away from the pipe any other suggestions would be great. BTW this is the best fitting pipe ive ever owned and my first new one so I don't want to melt my coolant line onto it, Thanks Austin

Take extra rad hose, slpit it with a razor knife, and then wrap the rad hsse on the area thats close to the exhaust pipe.

Grande where u get that hose??

JEGS Performance Products 100941 JEGS Pro-Flo 200 Series Braided Hose

I want to say I paid around $50 for it. I put electrical tape on it where I was making my cuts and use as thin of cutting wheel as possible on a hand held grinder.

And jon after getting those lines from jegs, you can also order the covers for the ends and it covers the hose clamps and looks great too. Ask marc silverlake 250r that what he did for his lines and fittimgs.

In all my years dealing with 250Rs, I've never seen any type or brand of pipe melt the OEM Honda radiator hose. If there ever was a time, a pipe could get hot enough to do that, the engine will let you know way sooner than before that hose starts to melt.

Neil, being that close to the pipe would that effect temperature? Would touching compared to say 1/2" away make a measurable difference?

I would say yes to some extent, like to only the hose when it touches, but would be dependent on several things how much heat went into the hose.
I would think the hose touching the pipe, would not make a temp difference in the cooling system though & would be a hard thing to measure.
