OEM Honda cylinder or ESR cylinder casting ?.

Eddie has done some oem Honda cylinders over the years, like back before the aftermarket 250R cylinders started being produced.

I'm not sure Ill guess and say it's an oem cylinder that was Nikasil plated. Is it worth picking up?

To some, an oem Honda cylinder with plated bore, would be an item of interest, but most would rather look for an aftermarket type cylinder.
Now if someone was getting it to do a resto project, say like one of Eddies old 250Rs from years ago, probably could fetch a pretty good price.
Post up a pic so we can see.

Did they have steel sleeves or just aluminum?

I have a ct branded pro-x pv with an aluminum sleeve it was a 250 I have since changed it to a 265. I read some where that someone had a similar sparks or lrd. I would guess that esr sold them as well.

That is what the OP wanted to know. Thanks, he is asking if they have a better value than OEM. Were assuming they were specifically ported for whoever was buying them.

The one that I have runs out real well. Definitely worth more than a stock cylinder to me. That being said my next motor will have more displacement.

Is it a complete engine or just the cylinder your thinking about getting.

ESR does mini sprint engines as well, so by it having a CR250R cylinder on it, it could be a sprint engine that was built some time ago.
A TRX250R bottom end with a CR250R cylinder, was a regular build type of engine for the sprints few years back. Most that I seen around here in the east, had LT Suzuki engines in them & very few used the TRX engines.
Something the sprints do that will really hurt your feelings, when they start the engines, they are pushed & then crammed into gear to start the engine turning over, because they have no clutch parts, all of that has been removed. Man, just think what that transmission is going through every time they start them up.

I ran one of these ESR  top ends for about 7 years of straight racing..That was one of ESR's top mod for quads in the early 90's...Ran it with the cr250 reed cage and the zepplin pipe...Thing made awesome explosive power...won races running TT, flat-track, and on the ice with it...One of the most reliable top ends I ever ran....I wouldn't be afraid to run it even today.....It will last you a long time as long as you keep up changing piston/rings in it with a quick ball hone job.....Mine finally wore through the nikisel ....and that again was after 7 years of hard racing...
