I've had the yz frame on the line that I considered swapping, but I've been on a hybrid since 2000. I wanted to give this one a fair chance. I still have a walsh ltr to thump on. I think I will enjoy riding a 2 stroke again. I like working on it. Even though my hybrids were never hard to work on its nice just doing something different.

Great job on the harness. Most who have tried to re-create the harness have had trouble finding those connectors.

Bike is looking great so far, You had a good foundation to start with

Thanks , cdi connectors were no problem, quick google search. I didn't use any of the other oem connections. I changed everything to deutch. A far superior weather tight connector. I was slightly ahead though being that I wire cars daily... all the best materials were at my disposal. I did use oem color codes except I had to switch from black/red to red/black... didn't have that one. I rewired the stator for the dc conversion but put all new wiring in to clean it up. This was actually what would have been junk all the wires were severed looked like it was caught in a chain. Came out of my spare parts, brought it back to life

very nice job !! one idea but its kinda late as the connectors are already on, but brady makes some heat shrink wire markeres instead of using the wraps.
they look very clean and last a long time
were did you find the cdi connector? what brand is it, more then likely the rest of the oem connectors are the same make, just for future reference

never mind after looking closer those are heat shrinks...I LIKE IT!!!

Sorry I haven't checked in awhile ill update it. This bike didn't get my normal attention as it was a very budget minded project but its nearly finished.  I still did a ton of work just no p.c. being that it was nearly mint. Ill re up when I'm on a normal p.c. but for now I just finished a set of shrouds. The radiator was about 2in wider then stock so the prm shrouds with spacers wasn't my thing.

Rebuilt the motor top to bottom, replaced all the bearings throughout the chassis, installed rpm front hubs, went through all the shocks and corrected the geometry for the chassis, put new seal heads and fluid in them, built a new wiring harness and dc converted the stator, new chain and sprockets, cables. Rebuilt master cylinder, new rear bumper, wheels & tires, radiator shrouds. Still need graphics, seat cover, ims oversized tank, maybe a duncan bumper.

I haven't done much I ditched, the esr 9 pipe went to a 03 paul turner race. Put in a high compression dome, went to a 38a/s instead of 39 pwk.  Ive spent alot of time working out tuning and it runs pretty strong now. Had a good weekend at glamis a couple weeks ago. Season is almost over here so maybe ill do more over summer but I doubt it. Its not flashy but its a very solid ride and that was my main focus. I will get a 4gal ims at some point and probably graphics if I can come up with something I like. Its difficult not to want to buy stuff for it but it really doesn't "need" anything,  so I am content.

Led light. My harness also has extra leads you could run a gps, tach, cell charger...whatever. its really just dc charging a battery to maintain. Obviously system is still a.c. cdi.

was the led lights more then the rectifier could handle? I thought they were small wattage

Yes I'm using a ballistic 4 cell. http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/batteries/4cell.php. I used my hi/lo as a second turn on for a power lead so i can run just the led on the bike or I can also use the second setting to power both a helmet light and the one mounted on the bike. You could use a smaller battery as long as its 12volt and provides enough amperage. Since it doesn't pull a huge amp draw like an electric starter options are pretty open.
