No, but I have a complete spare 02 CR 250 ignition w/ timing plate.  I lent the 02 to rsss396 to test a few months ago and he did a thread on it.  The thing I like about the 00-01 ignition is the simplicity.  The 02 has additional wiring and a larger CDI that make it less compact and messy to mount up to an ATC.  The TRX would be easier to mount up an 02-07 though.

The ESR timing plate covers 2002-2007. Dave did the map of the 2002 in http://trx250r.org/showthread.php?96-Ign-maps . Yes, they more expensive new and in time ebay prices will go up. But if you act now the system can be bought for around $300-$400.

When you look at that link posted that is what you should expect the parts of a new Genuine Honda OEM ignition kit to look like, in Honda OEM Factory packaging. It is too bad that the price went up but I believe it is only 40.00 more then the 700.00 ziplock and saran wrap 01 being sold. If you are going to buy a new kit the 740.00 07 vs the 700.00 01 doesn't seem to sting as much as it would if the 600.00 01 kit was still available. Another thing about the newer kits is that in the future you will be able to get a genuine honda replacement component if you ever need it.

excellent point.  that scam-artist(the coc) is possibly driving up everyone's prices.  ESR is honest so they extra $40 is worth it.

keep it real. the 2001 is the best cr ignition for the r at the moment. the 02 to 07 is got a lot more parts than the 2001, cdi is not as good. dont care for the coc, did get a new cr 01 ignition from bdt last month everything was in original honda packaging. lets go after him, not make shit up.

Why do you say the 02-07 CDI is not as good as the 01?

Dave only tested the 02 and 03. If someone gets a later year Dave will run the curve for us.

Yes, thats the way I see it also. Just was not sure if even though the 2001 is the best for our bikes that the newer ones are any worse performance wise.

What I mean is are we going to see any drop in performance using the 2007 verses the 2001?

the thing that needs to be looked at is the circuit powering the pv. and trying to see if its possible to power a small lighting circuit, instead of the relay circuits...
it might take some retrofitting a different reg/rec and load testing.. but its something that needs to be examined

I believe every year is different between 2002 and 2007.  I had 2002 and 2003 CDIs that rsss tested and the 2002 curve  was good (Similar to the 00 and 01) but the 2003 curve sucked. I haven't seen the 2007 tested yet.

Thats what I was asking about. May be not the best but still works for our application.

Ok sounds like we're all on the same page.  01 is preferred since we know the specs but nobody has used an 07 firsthand.  Who's going to be the guinea pig?
