Case repair suggestions

The bottom end that was came in my 87 leaks oil out the back where the swingarm rubbed and touched it over the years.  Not real bad but enough to make a mess and annoy me.  I assume this is from running with bad arm bearings, loose motor mounts,no headstay and running a 88-89 arm on a 87 frame .....all from previous owner.  Anyways it looks like only the left case half has a couple of hairline cracks in it.  Since this is just my trailrider and I don't want to stick alot in this wheeler at this time I'm thinking of roughing it up and just putting some RTV gasket sealant on the damn thing and running her.  Anyone else have any other things that will work well without welding or replacing the case half?  Thanks in advance.

I understand about not putting a lot into your trailrider....but as we all know the cracks will not get any better and most likely only worse.  I would suggest that you get it repaired the right way the first time (at least you save the cases for years to come).

I only bring this up is because I too have 2 sets of cases that need repaired:  1 set is cracked at the drain plug.  the other set has the typical damage at the case saver and shifter boss: lower case saver is busted and the shifter boss I cracked bad.

sooo...who do you guys suggest I send my cases to?

sorry to the op if I overstepped on your thread.

thanks
joe

Not at all Joe.  Thanks everyone...I will post pics Tuesday night after work.  I would like to just to put a bandaid on it till summer but I will see.  Then I could at least run one of my other quads.  Basically with all my other projects going on I am being lazy and trying to save some money.  Usually I do not cut any corners.

Pete@Hybrid Eng would be a good place. I saw some pics of cases fixed by Jerry White and they looked awesome.

I was wondering, could the lines your seeing just be minor imperfections from the casting process & not cracks? I just picked up a spare 86 engine & it has those flashing lines on it.

I assume for all these repairs you have to split the cases?  I am asking because I have never had to repair a case before.....only a clutch cover once.

I'm guessing it would definitely require splitting the cases. Would make it much much easier on the person doing the repairs as well

Obviously welding is the best fix for a crack, but sometimes the hilbilly in all of us comes out and there are some things that can be "fixed" with sealers.
First if this is a stress area then you probably really should consider welding it, but then welding does create problems if they are near bearing holes and such, many bearing holes will egg shape even with a bearing still in the hole.
But if this is just a small tight crack in a area of no stress then you might consider a gas tank sealer, it will not break down like many rtv sealers do in oils
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

Missed your response last night a minute before mine.  These are leaking cracks....I just posted pics.  I wish they weren't though.
