A little story comes with this quad also.  Seen it on CL a few years ago but had already had my collection complete.....or so I thought.  Well finally it was gone and some time had passed I got a phone call from a guy that know my Dad and knew I collected these.  Apparently his kid had bought it with intentions of ice racing it locally.  The day before this kid died in a drunk driving accident he rolled it over.  Bent the stem a little and tweaked the subframe.  Rash on the all the controls and Fullbore fenders.  I went and looked at and told him I could not afford it an the time.  It was a want not a need. LOL  Anyways I told him maybe I could work it off at his sawmill.  He said he would love to let me do that but it would not work with my work schedule.  So I forgot about it.

Then some more time passes and I get another phone call from the guy that ended up buying it.  He wanted to know all about a because he had no idea really what he had bought.  I told him everything I had knew about it and never heard back from him again.  Then one day it is for sale on CL again.  For like 3000...which is 500 more than he paid.  So I figured he bought it to maybe flip it.  No big deal but it sat for sale a long time at 3000 before that kid bought it.  It was pretty nice but the best things were the Duncan 265pv motor and the Fullbores.  

So then more time passes and I am at a local parts store and a guy I know is tryng to sell me this 250r.  He starts explaining this quad and as it turns out it is that same quad again.  He appantly got it on a trade.  Guy gave him the quad and 1500 bucks for a S10 pickup.  This guys son was also going to ice race it but I think he wanted more of a trail quad.  He put on front wheel spacers and a new aftermarket stator.  He just wanted his money back....2600.  I told him I have too many other things going on and could not buy it at the moment.  So I did not hear from him for months.  Then one day his kid text me and asked if I would trade my 86 for it.  I said I would even up but didn't want to throw in any money because my quad has been all gone thru and is low hour.  He wanted 600 to boot and I said no more thsn 300.  We settled on my quad with swingarm skid,engine skid,rear 350x tires and rims,and a 357 pistol.  Really didn't want to givr the gun as I never sold/traded a gun yet but it is replaceable.

So once I got it I decided to pull the motor,pipe and silencer and keep it for my 87 build.  And take the motor from my 87 and put it in this one.  Plan is to make it my trailrider like my 86 was.  So here are some before and after pics os my progress so far.  Sorry for the long post.  Lol

Looks like a fairly clean ride. Toys get passed around in my neck of the woods too. I still see some of my old cars driving around by different people

Thanks everyone.  I got it running today.  This motor was on the bench for like 3-4 years.  Runs pretty good but I think I should have re-packed the silencer.  First one is a short video.

That's crazy today at work I was thinking about this quad and wondered where it went cause I had my eye on it for awhile while it was on craiglist. Came on here and here you have it! Pretty cool story its good to see it went to a good home

Thanks fellas.  Yes I wanted it so bad everytime it came for sale but I already had my others bought.  And didn't have any play money or something to sell to buy it either.  It is not going anywhere now.  Deciding if I should put my old blue Maier's off my 86 that I traded to get this quad.  And save the Fullbore's for a future rebuild.

Run it some today and I knew it was too good to be true.  Got a coolant leak and it appears to be a head gasket.  Was sputtering some while I was running thru the gears.  Now I am wondering if I should just throw another head gasket in or buy a cool head for it.  I have always liked the o-ring heads with different domes.

Well that sucks! I'm a fan of the o-rings too! But just wonder about the dome cracking thread. Is that common? Are the duncan heads a different design? ESR has the water flow problems...
