Complete new CR250 ignition with adapter plate
« on: January 24, 2014, 01:45:01 AM »
I bought a complete system from ESR a couple years back to diagnose some funny ignition-related problems I was having with a motor.  I installed the system, ran it for about eight minutes, then pulled it off and put it on a shelf.  I also have another adapter plate because I have a 98 CR250 ignition also.  In fact, I think the second adapter plate is literally still in the plastic.

Okay, now that I have your attention, I need to be honest.  I'm not  really looking to sell it unless the current market value is a bazillion  dollars, I just like to know how much money I'm sitting on if ever I  needed to finance one of my other many many projects.  I'm not totally opposed to selling it, but I'm not willing to sell it for what I bought it for.  If I wanted the money instead of the ignition system, I wouldn't have bought it.  Eventually I'm  looking to put this ignition on a 310cc duner (of which the cylinder is  sitting right next to it on the same shelf)

But for the sake of curiosity, what is the going rate?

A complete set up including fly wheel ,coil mount, and, adaptor sold for $455 on eBay. I sure you can get $500 easy for a 00-01 set up.

you must consider the availability of the 2002-2007 kits.  i guess the 2001 would be between $400-600 depending on condition.

450 shipped with adaptor seem like a fair going rate, i been searching CL everyday for cr250 part outs they pop up occasionally you can buy the whole ignition dirt cheap . I been lucky and bought 2 in the last 3 months , it seems that when a part out pops up the ignition is the first to go ,

Bought a nice low hour used one without the adapter from a member for $425 shipped a couple months back.  Used ones I've watched recently sell for $400-$500 depending on condition and inclusion of adapter plate.  So it wouldn't surprise me if you could get close to $600 for yours.

That's kinda what I thought, which is why I'm not really willing to sell it.  I think I paid about $600 for it (or maybe it was $500, plus another $100 for the second adapter plate.  Can't remember).  If prices had gone up significantly because of lack of availability, I might be willing to sell it.  But for $600, I'll just keep it until I can use it.

Yeah they're on the money above. I sold one on November for 450 shipped and I only had it posted online for 6 minutes. Lol
