Just picked up a motor from a guy who has been using amsoil saber at a 100:1 mix ratio. I was a little skeptical but that is what it specs out at. Looked at the plug and it was perfect. It's a Sphinx 300 cyl. Just wondering if it would be any problem to go with a Klotz 50 or equiv. at about 40:1. Can't find anyone around here who sells the amsoil, but then again I don't want to change a good thing if the motor is used to amsoil.  Thanks   Ron

I am no oil expert my any means, but the 100:1 amsoil is designed for chainsaws and weed whackers.  Their interceptor and dominator is supposed to be used in powersports applications.   But i use dominator in my chainsaw 50:1 without a problem.  I would be pretty nervous at 100:1  I used to run R50 klotz in my banshees years ago.  It worked great on the dunes with the high compression quads.  But on the trail banshees on pump gas it fouled spark plugs left and right.

Hub, the Amsoil Saber professional is just fine to be used at 100:1. However, I think you will like the Interceptor at 50:1 better. I am an Amsoil Distributor myself. PM me where you live and I will see if I can find an Amsoil dealer in your area. Either way, I can get you taken care of if you are wanting some Amsoil.

Old thread but running saw for work I run 40:1 or even 32:1 hand falling and finally had a bottom end bearing let go after 15 years of use top en after 10 years with castor oils.

Which ever oil you switch to be sure to reject, going from 100:1 to 40:1 will require a complete jet circuit tune probably a few main jets sizes bigger, 1 pilot jet size bigger, and the needle clip may need to be changed.
