any difference in CDI (HA2 and HB9)
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:53:00 PM »
The bike I am putting back together is a mix of diff. years. I wasn't getting spark so after some trouble shooting and taking a known good CDI off my other bike figured out thats what it was. Then I noticed the two were not exactly the same. The good one has HA2 on the plug were as the bad one says HB9. also the HA2 is a little smaller in size. I then noticed looking at a part fiche that it looks like in 88 the part number changed. So my question is will any year CDi work with any year wire harness? Just thought I'd check before I go looking for one.

On trx's they will swap. 85 atc cdi has a different connector plug. I prefer the 88 up cdi btw. Slightly different timing curve. Not a big difference, but IMO I liked it better
