Author Topic: 87-89 Style Radiator Hoses - OEM vs eBay/GPI/Niu-X TRX250R (Read 6379 times)

What's the feedback on aftermarket radiator hoses? I need a 1987-1989 radiator style hose setup. Wondering if the aftermarket eBay/GPI/Niu-X ones are any better than the OEM guys (assuming I can find some in decent shape)?

I have had a set of blue asi silicon hoses for 2 years now I bought for around $30 shipped straight from China. Have been fine.Also ordered a set they made custom for me in Green but don't have anytime on them.

a lot of the older OEM are getting swollen near the ends even if the new silicone ones don't last 20 years like the old OEM at least you can still get them

Yeah this is why I'm considering something non-OEM. Do you have experience with non-OEM replacement hoses? What do you like?

I've used cv4 and asi and honestly I cant see spending 120 bucks for the cv4, I don't think there is much difference between any of the silicon ones other then the name...
but as I said ive only tried the 2 I mentioned

I have had the ASI ones now for 2 years and no problems. In fact I got another set for the atc.
The cv4 hoses for my 450 are just a tad bit thicker...but not much.

There seems to be all kinds of kits/colors for the 87-89 engine but none for the 86.. Anyone know where I can get a set for the 86, I know at least one of the hoses is different coming from the radiator

There's not a lot of aftermarket options on eBay for the 86 setup. Both radiator attachment points on 86 radiators are curved while they're straight on 87-89.

I do believe, 86-87 are the same with curved nipples! :loyal: The 88-89 are straight. Pointed outward! :hopelessness:

ya the 88 hose will work you have to cut them back a couple inches for to use on the 86 style

Could be. I never had an 87 to confirm but most folks sell 2 versions of hoses: 86 and 87-89. Part numbers aren't definitive either.

1986: 19010-HB9-003
1987: 19010-HB9-670
1988: 19010-HB9-770
1989: 19010-HB9-770
