hey tony here is some pics of the prep work i have done on some parts i want to paint.. cases will be red and i also have the side covers to strip but those will be black..
You should  pull the drain plug and tape it off. You want to either paint with the side covers on or mask that off. I have a cover for the output shaft seal and cover for where the cylinder goes. Mask off the seal where the clutch actuator arm goes and the seal for the shift shaft. The sanding prep work looks fine. Paint with the 3 bolts snug under the ignition cover(holding case halves together). Before drying pull the ignition cover or masking and split the center cases apart an 1/8 inch so the paint does not chip after drying.

I have the same hobo freight spray gun. It didn't work right at first because there was excess silicone inside that needed to be cleaned out.

True dat......I have had these not work at all, last 1 run and last forever. It's good to get the replacement insurance for  a couple bucks. Keep the receipt and when ever one quits working, take it back and get another. I have 3 all the time. One is still unused.

Got my bearings in from honda east toledo.. Threw em in the freezer.. Put the cases in the over at 300*. Dropped right in so easy. Then i bought some polyurethane paint from pumashine and what does he do?? Sends me a engine stand for free along with the cylinder block off and all the supplies i need to properly prep paint.. Very grateful for the stand tony!! Honestly didnt expect that but one day ill get ya back.. Ill be moving to portland by the end of the year hopefully so well get to ride together one day.. Pretty excited about it!!

So i mixed the polyurethane paint to the activator 3 parts to 1. Then added about 10-20% reducer.. Now this was one of the  first times ive mixed paint before so i had to read the directions like a 1000 times.. Tony did a good write up on what to do.. Add the reducer then stir 2-3 mins. Watch for bubbles. If no bubbles add more reducer.. Finally bubbles started to come up. Then i let the paint sit 15 mins. Then i went to sprayin!! Found a couple spots where it had some runs. Ill do better next time around and ill post better step by step photos.. This paint is awesome and a big upgrade to spray paint!! Hopefully this will help somebody with the painting.

I have been told you want to get to the point where the paint is just about ready to run and stop spraying that area. I find that looking at the reflection in the light helps to see where the paint is a little ruff. Just need to hit that spot one more time. Looks great for your first time with a spray gun. You will never notice the runs so much as it is shiny as can be. Good thing you practiced on the nerf bars. They are hard to get done evenly everywhere. But it is good practice for the motor. They take alot of abuse and will chip first. After awhile you will never noticed the runs as they will be beat up.

Today was very nice in western washington state. 60* to be exact.. Shocking to say the least.. So shocking that it rains here every day.. Hasnt rained in about 3 days and somehow there is a massive mudslide about 30 mins south of where i live.. 5 ppl that i know are missing.. Keep your prayers open please!! Now onto the quad.. I painted black and red today.. Both came out great.. But on reasemble of the rear brake caliper i ended up short for the rear bolt.. I posted some pics hope they are enough to maybe give a tip of what i need to do to get the bolt holes to line up correct.
