any engine builders have tips on engine assembly??

ok i have another question here guys. i put the whole bottom end together get it all bolted up. put on all the grears on the outside of the right case like the kick starter gear, counter balancer grear, and then the clutch basket and all that good stuff. then when i turn the crank and try to shift through the gears i notice i can only really get about 4 gears out of it. also the gear that the sprocket is on isnt spinning like it should. now im pretty pissed cause ill be taking all this shit apart and trying it again. my question here is, is there a way to check the gears are going to work correctly before the entire assembly?? also the sprocket gear should move once i put it in gear correct?? any help would be great guys thanks

if all the parts are there then it should work. have to spin the shaft or it wont click the gears
to much power is almost enough
