Shift drum tranny issue?? Nuetral??
« on: April 11, 2014, 12:38:21 AM »
Well i cant find any info on where the neutral position is on the shift drum in relation to the shift star on the outside of the right case.. Heres some pics to show
From top to bottom
1st&2nd pic is the shift star in what i believe is the nuetral position with the arm detent holding it in place. Please correct me if im wrong..
3rd&4th pic is the engine flipped around and where the shift star is in neutral the shift drum is in this position. I figured the shift forks should be pressed all the way to the end of the grooves.. Am i wrong on this?? Where is nuetral on the shift drum??
5th pic is what i figured is neutral??
now i do have the notch on the backside of the shift star lined up with the peg on the shift drum.. Thats why im getting confused on where nuetral is on the shift drum. Im stuck here guys.. Fml. Please help

Ya know what i think i just answered my own question here by reading my post with the photos.. The last pic is 1st gear huh?? That way you cant keep shifting down.. Nuetral is just up a half so the 3rd and 4th pic are neutral im bettin cash!!

If I remember correctly....the pin on the shift drum needs to be in the "7 o'clock" position when you put on that shift star

I usually just dry assemble the transmission and shift through the gears before final assembly. Just drizzle some tranny oil on the shift drum before you test

the first & second picture has the drum in the neutral positon
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

Which means the 2nd and 3rd pic are correct right? Just wanna make sure cause the notch on the shift drum that the star attaches to is in the 10-11 o'clock area.. Not the 7 oclock

I will say yes as long as the trans will shift and spin ok, I am just positive that the drum position shown on 1&2 is the neutral position
